Health & Social Care Standards

Description of Course

This half day course will provide participants with an understanding for the need for standards in care and how these fit into everyday health and social care practice. Participants will look at the reason for the introduction of the new Health & Social Care Standards in April 2018, discuss the key principles which form them and look at practical examples of how the supporting statements can support their practice and create a person centred framework for those in care.

Who is it for?

Any individual working in care whether for statutory services or non-registered care providers

What will I learn?

All participants will be able to show that they:
• Understand the background, legislation and framework for the Health & Social Care Standards
• Have an awareness of the five principles which form the foundations of the Health & Social Care Standards
• Are familiar with the five Health & Social Care Standards and supporting statements and how these relate to daily practice
• Understand how to use the principles and standards in care plans and daily interaction with residents
