Description of Course

This highly interactive half day course will enable participants to explore the opportunity new approaches to tackling challenging conversations with people who access health & social care services including guidance on how to apply this learning into their daily workloads.

Who is it for?

Any individual who works with people accessing health & social care services.

What will I learn?

All participants will be able to show that they:
• Understand the 4 key phases of having a focussed conversation and how the power of questioning will support future conversations with service users
• Have an awareness of the 7 key principles of courageous conversations and how they might relate these to future discussions
• Can identify how a fixed mind set can influence discussion and outcome
• Will be able to identify their strengths and weaknesses in relation to interpersonal skills to support future learning
• Understand how to become more outcome orientated when setting goals with service users to enable them to become more engaged in identifying alternative sources of support
