Adult Support & Protection

Description of Course

This half day course will provide learners with a basic level understanding of the Adult Support & Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 and will introduce them to the key components which are relevant to their role as care workers.

Who is it for?

Any individual working with vulnerable adults.

What will I learn?

All participants will be able to show that they:
• Understand the key principles and statutory duties placed upon Local Authorities in terms of the Adult Support & Protection (Scotland) 2007 Act
• Have a greater awareness of what duties are placed on staff who work with vulnerable adults and what their responsibility is within this
• Recognise what is meant by an ‘Adult at Risk’ and ‘Harm’ and the types of protection orders that exist as part of the Act
• Understand what is meant by ‘Capacity’ and the ability to provide ‘Consent’
• Will be able to identify the key principles of Health and Safety, Human Rights and duty of care in the context of the Adult Support & Protection (Scotland) Act 2007
