Moving & Handling Induction

More than a third of all over three-day injuries reported each year to the Health & Safety Executive and Local Authorities are caused by manual handling – the transporting or supporting of loads by hand or by bodily force. Most of the reported accidents cause back injury, though hands, arms and feet are also vulnerable. Many manual handling injuries build up over a period rather than being caused by a single handling incident.

This full day workshop will explore the importance of placing the individual at the centre of the development of their support plan to ensure that they achieve their personal outcomes. Participants will explore the Talking Points approach to personal outcomes, why personal outcomes can make a difference to those receiving care and what their role is to change the conversation from a deficit to outcomes focus.

This interactive half day workshop will explore what person centred care is and how we achieve positive outcomes for the people we support. It will discuss how we can work collaboratively with the people we support, their families and our colleagues to ensure that the principles of human rights in person centred care are achieved.

Health & Social Care Standards
This half day course will provide participants with an understanding for the need for standards in care and how these fit into everyday health and social care practice. Participants will look at the reason for the introduction of the new Health & Social Care Standards in April 2018, discuss the key principles which form them and look at practical examples of how the supporting statements can support their practice and create a person centred framework for those in care.
